The Broome Centurions used a six run sixth inning to come from behind and down the Chesnee Eagles 6-4 on Friday night.
Both starting pitchers came out strong in the first inning as Broome's Rylan Brown and Chesnee's Chase Carver both struck out two batters a piece in the opening inning. Brown added two more strikeouts in the second while Carver added another to his total. With two outs in the third Chesnee's Matthew Wood got on base with the help of a Broome error. Kyler Reagan and Landon Thompson followed with back to back doubles as Reagan's double plated Wood and Reagan scored on Thompson's double. Chesnee added another run in the top of the sixth as Blake Scruggs lead off with a double and scored on Gabe Murabito's RBI triple. Ethan Crump got the Centurion's big sixth inning started as he was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning before scoring on Harrison Howell sacrifice bunt. A mixture of Chesnee errors and an RBI from Braxton Turner plus two RBIs from Crump in his second at-bat of the inning would lead to six Broome runs. Chesnee tried to rally in the seventh inning as Matthew Wood hit a one out single and later came around to score on Blake Scruggs' RBI single but that would be all for the Eagles. Chesnee got a strong performance from Chase Carver as he pitched 4 2/3 innings and scattered three hits while striking out five while getting a no-decision because of the rally by the Centurions Jeb Dawson got the win for Broome and Bryson Ricketts picked up the save.
