It didn’t take long for the excitement to get started at the Lowe’s Classic on Thursday as in the second game of the day the Broome Centurions rallied from a sixteen point deficit in the third quarter only to fall to the Berea Bulldogs 73-66 in overtime.
The game was close throughout most of the first half only to see Berea extend its lead to 48-32 in the third quarter. The comeback started there for Broome though as the Centurions went on a 17-0 run from the 1:32 mark in the third quarter to the 6:03 mark in the fourth quarter giving Broome a 49-48 lead. The comeback for Broome was led by senior David Miller who scored twenty-six points and also had fifteen rebounds for the Centurions on Thursday. At the end of regulation the score was tied 62-62 after two shot attempts in the last six seconds fell just short for Broome . Berea was able to regain their lead in overtime though as they outscored Broome 11-4 and moved on into the winners bracket of the Lowe’s Classic. Berea was led offensively by Newa Hashim who scored 23 points for the Bulldogs. Berea will play Westside at 5:30 PM and Broome will face East Rutherford at 11:30 AM on Friday. Comments are closed.
