INMAN, S.C. – With time winding down and in need of a few yards, Chapman did what they had done most of the night – run the football. Keanu Na broke through the left side for a 13 yard gain and a first down as Chapman edged Broome 38-35 in front of a capacity crowd for the Region 3-3A crown.
This also marks the seventh region championship in as many seasons for the Panthers and extends their region winning streak to 32 games (with 19 occurring at home in that span). The region winning streak dates back to October 28th, 2016, where the Panthers earned a 33-7 road win over the Centurions. Broome drew first blood with a seven-play, 75 yard drive to open the contest as Kamajay Brackett-Brannon took the option keeper down the far sideline for a 25 yard score. After a Chanson Mickles tackle on third down led to a Broome punt, Chapman answered with an eight-play, 70 yard drive where Coleman Gray scored on a 14 yard run, tying the game at 7 with 5:58 left in the opening frame. Four minutes later, Mathai Scott capped a tidy five-play, 75 yard march with a four yard touchdown run that put Chapman ahead 14-7. On the next possession, a 43 yard completion on third down from Gray to Hudson Moss set up a one yard plunge by Scott and a 21-7 lead for the Panthers. “(The offensive line) did what they do every day at practice, and worked their tails off,” Scott quickly pointed out. “We just run behind them. It just comes down to wanting it. All I wanted to do is to give everybody another chance. When I got to the second level, (my thought was) the first guy is not going to take me down.” However, Jaylen McGill fielded the ensuing kickoff and returned it 83 yards for a Centurion score, cutting it down to a seven point game. With under three minutes left in the half, Scott punched it into the end zone and extended the Chapman lead back to two scores, 28-14. Broome opened the third quarter by forcing a Chapman three-and-out and finding pay dirt on a one yard McGill run, again cutting the score down to seven points. Late in the frame, the Panthers countered as Gray weaved his way through traffic on a 24 yard jaunt for a 35-21 advantage. “I trust my guys in front of me and know that I can count on them whenever I’ve got the ball in my hands,” exclaimed Gray. “When I run, I’m running angry because I want to get - if not a touchdown - a big run to get my guys going and have that energy for the rest of the night.” “I have two older brothers that made me run angry because I’ve always wanted to be better than them. We kept our foot on the gas pedal and kept on pushing. Like Coach Cab says, think of this game for 24 hours and then after that, you’re done. We’re onto the next game and that’s what we’re going to do.” Jackson Visoury knocked through an 18 yard field goal for a 10 point Panther lead, but another McGill touchdown cut it to a three-point deficit with 3:49 left in regulation before Chapman recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock. “That’s us,” said Chapman head coach Harry Cabaniss. “We went to our next three in Keanu Na, Coleman Gray, and Mathai Scott. I’ll lean on those guys all day long and with our offensive line playing the way they’re playing, we’re not going to change it up.” “Hudson Moss had a couple of big catches for us, and Max Carter played awesome early on. Whoever we put in, it's the next man up. I knew our guys were going to answer (just like) they have all season.” Scott finished with 19 carries for a game-high 161 yards and three touchdowns, while Na had 13 carries for 115 yards. Gray completed 12 of his 13 pass attempts for 112 yards, while also recording 17 carries for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Moss tallied four receptions for 61 yards, while Max Carter had three receptions for 25 yards. McGill compiled 22 carries for 155 yards and four total touchdowns (three rushing) for the Centurions, while Brackett-Branndon recorded 13 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown. Chapman (9-1) will host the fourth seed from Region 1-3A in the first round of the 3A Upper State playoffs on Friday, November 3rd, with a scheduled kickoff of 7:30 PM. CONWAY, SC - After a slow start to their bid for a state championship at the 3A state championship tournament at the Hackler Golf Course, the Chapman girls' golf team finished out the tournament strong on Tuesday to claim a top 10 spot finish in the state.

Chapman head girls' golf coach Andy Pitt was proud of his team's performance over the season and how they improved throughout the year. "I'm proud of the girls this season," said Pitt. "They worked hard and really came a long way. We will miss the seniors and now have a solid season to build on moving forward into next year. The future is bright for the program." Waccamaw won the 3A state tournament with a score of 661 over two days shooting a score of 333 on Monday and a score of 328 on Tuesday. GREER, S.C. – On Friday evening, the Chapman Panthers crossed county lines along Highway 14 to face the Blue Ridge Tigers in the penultimate Region 3-3A clash of the 2023 campaign. On this night, the Panthers struck quickly on the way to a wire-to-wire 50-21 victory over Blue Ridge.
On the opening possession, Chapman only needed three plays to go 52 yards as North-South selection quarterback Coleman Gray navigated his way through traffic on a 23 yard touchdown run. Micah Rollins completed a pass to Peyton Hodge for a successful two-point conversion, staking the Panthers to an 8-0 lead less than a minute into the game. Less than three minutes later, Gray found fellow North-South selection wide receiver Shawn Cunningham on a four yard touchdown pass along with a successful two-point conversion run by Mathai Scott for a 16-0 advantage. On the ensuing Blue Ridge drive, Hank Tolleson blocked a punt that put the Panthers on the Tigers’ 27 yard line. Hudson Moss took a reverse 25 yards up field and set up a two yard plunge by Scott, which created a three-score lead just under four minutes into the second stanza. Blue Ridge found the end zone on a 67 yard jaunt by K.B. Henderson, which cut the deficit down to 30-7. On the next play from scrimmage, Gray scanned the field and hit Cunningham down the seam for a 55 yard strike and 37-7 Panther advantage at that juncture of the contest. “We told our team (postgame) that we’re going to worry about the process, not the outcome,” said Chapman head coach Harry Cabaniss. “We’ve got to continue focusing on day-to-day stuff and not necessarily about what’s at the end of the rainbow. That’s as fast as we’ve come out (scoring-wise) all year. Every single person played tonight, which is always good.” A seven-yard touchdown run by Scott and two Jackson Visoury field goals (22 and 25 yards, respectively) accounted for Chapman’s final 10 points. Henderson finished with a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Tigers and surpassed 1,000 rushing yards. Scott finished the game with nine carries for 42 yards and three touchdowns, while Keanu Na notched 10 carries for 40 yards. Gray completed all five of his passing attempts for 117 yards and two touchdowns, while also recording five carries for 49 yards. Cunningham tallied three receptions for 77 yards. Chapman (8-1, 3-0 Region) will return home and play for the Region 3-3A championship against the Broome Centurions on Friday, October 27th, with a scheduled kickoff of 7:30 PM. "Hopefully we can have a strong week of practice and put two more really good days out there." INMAN, S.C. – Friday evening marked the end of a festive Homecoming week as the Chapman Panthers resumed Region 3-3A play against the visiting Travelers Rest Devildogs. A heavy dose of the ground game helped the Panthers pull away for a 56-0 shutout victory over the Devildogs.
On Chapman’s fourth play from scrimmage, Mathai Scott took the handoff up the middle and sprinted 84 yards to pay dirt, putting the Panthers ahead 6-0 with just under three minutes left in the opening frame. Later, Scott weaved his way through traffic on the near sideline for a 15 yard touchdown and a 12-0 lead with 5:18 left in the second quarter. Scott tallied nine carries for 148 yards and a trio of touchdowns on the night. “It’s great getting to play behind our offensive line,” Scott exclaimed. “I know they’re going to make a lane, so all I’ve got to do is trust them and hit it, and it’ll be there. At first, we were struggling a little bit… but then, we went back to playing Chapman ball and that’s what our O-line did.” On the next drive for Travelers Rest, a Chandler Cartee pass deflection landed in the hands of teammate Cole Daugherty for the interception, which set up a 22 yard strike from Coleman Gray to Shawn Cunningham in the near corner of the end zone on the next play, which made for a 19-0 halftime advantage. Chapman rattled off 16 points in the first two minutes and 29 seconds of the third quarter as Scott scored on a one yard run, followed by a safety and a 55 yard kickoff return touchdown by Shamon Black, which added up to a 35-0 lead. “In the first half, we were not playing the way we could play, up to our standard,” said senior lineman Harrison Bridges. “We put it together and helped Mathai and Keanu (Na), who were running their tails off. As an offensive lineman, you love seeing all three of your running backs get in the end zone. You’re like, ‘This is what we need to do every single game’ and hold that to the standard.” The Panthers found the end zone three more times on a one yard Keanu Na run, a 32 yard pass from Gray to Smith, and a 15 yard run by Dunning. Na finished the game with 10 carries for 62 yards, while Dunning notched five rushes for 35 yards. Gray completed 11 out of 18 pass attempts for 173 yards and two touchdowns, while also recording six carries for 59 yards. Smith tallied two receptions for 77 yards. “(Mathai) has continued to work his tail off, but the guys up front continue to get better and better,” said Chapman head coach Harry Cabaniss. “We had to clean a couple of things up at halftime and after that, I feel like that’s when we got rolling pretty good. Being able to continue watching (the team) get better every week is really cool.” Chapman (7-1, 2-0 Region) will travel over to Greenville County for a Region 3-3A contest against the Blue Ridge Tigers on Friday, October 20th, with a scheduled kickoff of 7:30 PM. TRAVELERS REST, SC - The Chapman girls' golf team made a journey to the other side of Greenville County on Monday and when they returned had an impressive runner-up finish along with two All-Region honors from the Cherokee Valley golf course.
