TRAVELERS REST, SC - The Chapman girls' golf team made a journey to the other side of Greenville County on Monday and when they returned had an impressive runner-up finish along with two All-Region honors from the Cherokee Valley golf course.
Chapman finished in second place with a score of 390 which was 12 shots ahead of third place Travelers Rest as the region championship was won by the defending champions Blue Ridge. The Panthers had two players named to the All-Region team on Monday as Adeline Todd and Samantha Ireland earned that honor with their play at Cherokee Valley. They were joined on the All-Region team by region player of the year from Blue Ridge Kate Cox along with Blue Ridge players Haley Meredith, Ashley Azzaro, and Harley Smith as well as Travelers Rest players Katlyn Simpson, Kami League, and Mae McHugh. Randy Cissom from Blue Ridge was the region coach of the year on Monday as well. With the finish Chapman qualifies for the 3A Upper State tournament that will be played on October 16th at the Willow Creek Golf Club in Greer with the tournament set for a shotgun start beginning at 10:00 AM.
