LANDRUM, SC - The Chapman girls' golf continued their improvement as they finished runner-up in a three team, nine-hole match at the Links O'Tryon on Tuesday afternoon.
Blue Ridge, the region favorites, won the match with a score of 185 but the Panthers finished just three shots behind with a score of 188 and ahead of Landrum who shot a score of 208. Chapman girls' golf head coach Andy Pitt was proud of the growth that he has seen in his team and is happy about the direction his team is heading in as region postseason play quickly approaches. "I think that although we fell short of the region favorite Blue Ridge, we showed really well today," said Pitt. "I think we built a little more confidence today and we're headed in the right direction." Blue Ridge's Kate Cox took the medalist honors with a score of 35 on Tuesday but Chapman's Adeline Todd was just two shots back of winning after firing a score of 37 at the course after starting the day off with back-to-back birdies. The Panthers will be back in action on Thursday when they host Broome at the Village Greens Golf Course for a nine-hole match set to begin at 4:00 PM. Comments are closed.
